Pop Art Pups
Paper Pups is all about the Pop, whether it’s pop up or pop art.
Using a photo of your pet, we draw an eye-catching work of art. Using color and and halftone techniques from the golden age of comics and magazines, your dog is transformed into a Pop Art gallery piece or a comic book cover that never was (but should have been).
There’s something wonderful about the old halftone process for creating color. The possibility of small glitches in color, the possibility that one of the color plates will shift ever so slightly. Those dots. I’m combining my love for dogs and mid-century comics into these pop art portraits. Classic pop-art posters and covers from comics that never were but should have been.
How It Works
Once you order, you provide one or more pictures of your dog. You can also share things that make your pup special: their personality, their quirks, their favorite things. I’ll create a piece of art that captures your pet in a unique and colorful way. Along the way, I’ll share progress to allow you to make any desired revisions. If you have more than one pet and they just can’t be kept apart, you can add up two more pets for an additional fee.
Turnaround time is usually under a week. Extra pets or adjustments may add to this. digital files are delivered upon completion and are suitable for printing at the stated size. Glossy prints usually take around 7-10 days for processing and shipping

A more personalized portrait. An 12 x 18 portrait with a custom Golden Age comic book cover, that mid-century all-in-color-for-a-dime treat. I’ll work with you every step of the way to present your pup in the most eye-catching way.
